The site includes information, and the software and media on which it is operated or contained, (individually and collectively the "Information") which is made available by the FP7 project ECOWEB consortium. Our goal is to keep this information timely and accurate. If errors are brought to our attention, we will try to correct them.

However, the ECOWEB consortium accepts no responsibility or liability whatsoever with regard to the material on this site. This material is:

The permission granted above does not extend to any textual or artistic material (drawings, photos, audio, video, etc.) on this site which is identified as being the copyright of a third-party. In these circumstances, authorisation to reproduce such material must be obtained from the appropriate copyright holders.

All logos and trademarks are excluded from the above-mentioned general permission.

Translations of documents or information into languages other than the language editions officially published on the ECOWEB site may be subject to the conclusion of a free of charge licence agreement with the original information source. For this purpose, relevant requests, as well as any other copyright queries if in doubt regarding the re-use of materials displayed in ECOWEB, shall be addressed in writing to the specific sources mentioned in paragraph one.

Project profiles reviews, updating and other content through the ECOWEB Content Updater

You may not use a false e-mail address, impersonate any person or entity, or otherwise mislead as to the origin of a project, eco-innovation or other content. ECOWEB reserves the right (but not the obligation) to remove or edit such content, but does not regularly review modified and/or updated content.

If you do modify and/or update content or submit material, and unless we indicate otherwise, you grant ECOWEB a nonexclusive, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable, and right to use, publish, distribute, and display such content throughout the world in the platform and through our RSS feed, e-Newsletter Services and Eco-innovation boxes. You grant ECOWEB the right to use the name that you submit in connection with such content. You represent and warrant that you own or otherwise control all of the rights to the content that you modify and/or update; that the content is accurate; that use of the content you supply does not violate this policy and will not cause injury to any person or entity; and that you will indemnify ECOWEB for all claims resulting from content you supply. ECOWEB has the right but not the obligation to monitor and edit or remove any activity or content. ECOWEB takes no responsibility and assumes no liability for any content modified and/or updated by you or any third party.

Who is responsible for this data processing?

The data controller is the ECOWEB Consortium, with Smart Information Systems as the technical developer of the platform and partner of the ECOWEB project consortium.
In respect of the personal data related to eco-innovations and in project records, personal information provided to the European Union for publication (e.g. information concerning involvement in an EU-funded R&D and/or innovation project) and their recording, storage and processing in the EU databases CORDIS, LIFE+, and CIP Eco-innovation and the front-end and back office systems of these, the controller is collaborating with these three EU databases.

What information do we collect?

The following ECOWEB applications may require you to provide additional personal data:

  • ECOWEB Content Updater [1]
  • The ECOWEB contact form to give us feedback which requires the following mandatory fields to be provided: Title, Full name, E-Mail address
  • The Contact form to contact individual members of eco-innovation projects

You can also provide the following optional fields to help ECOWEB gain a better understanding of user needs: telephone, organisation, type of user (SME, Researcher, Multiplier, Other) and principal use of ECOWEB.

Who do we share your personal data with?

The collected data will be treated confidentially and used only by the relevant teams of the ECOWEB consortium and the European Commission for the purposes foreseen in this privacy notice.

If you modify your project profile, your data will be visible for the other users who can use them to contact you directly (for e.g. telephone number) or indirectly (for e.g. contact form). We will not share your personal data with third parties for direct marketing purposes and we have no commercial interests in your data.
However, data may be transmitted to bodies responsible for monitoring, inspection or regulatory tasks under EU law, e.g. the European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF) or the teams performing administrative investigations.

How can you access, correct and delete your personal data?

You have the right to obtain a copy of any personal information that we hold about you, to correct or update this information. You can request to delete your registration data if there are no outstanding issues. By deleting your data, you terminate any related services and access rights.

If you wish to access or correct your personal information, you may either do this yourself online through the ECOWEB Content Updater to modify your project information, or contact us through the Contact Form.

We will take reasonable steps to help verify your identity before granting access or making corrections.

How do we prevent unauthorised access to or use of your personal data?

We maintain physical, electronic and managerial procedures to protect and prevent unauthorised access to your data and ensure it is used correctly.
Members of our staff who have access to personal data are required to protect it in a manner consistent with this privacy notice.

Project owners are responsible for keeping the ECOWEB Content Updater secure link confidential.

What is considered unacceptable behaviour?

In certain interactive ECOWEB services, in particular the ECOWEB Content Updater, users may contribute further information about their eco-innovations and themselves and other project partners. ECOWEB may remove this information if it is considered to be contrary to the interests of the service or a user.

A non-exhaustive list of unacceptable content includes: obviously commercial promotion, defamatory or offensive comments, copyright breaches.

Abuse can be reported directly by contacting the ECOWEB Team. We will endeavour to delete any unacceptable content as soon as possible.

Personal data in project records and research results

The ECOWEB database may contain personal information provided to the European Union databases (from FP, LIFE+ and CIP programmes) for publication (e.g. information concerning involvement in an EU-funded R&D project). In the context of technology transfer promotion of the ECOWEB project, carried out in the public interest, and in order to facilitate access to people involved in EU-funded research, although this information is considered as "public information" in the sense of Commission Decision 2011/833/EU of 12 December 2011 on the re-use of Commission information, ECOWEB does not publish the contact details of participants in such research projects or results but provides a direct contact form in each case.

These contact forms linked to individuals' personal data shall be used only to contact them for matters related to their function. Therefore, avoiding the processing of this information in a way incompatible with this purpose (such as further transmission, further publication, direct marketing and requests for information, which differ from the matters indicated).

If you wish to remove your data from public contacting, please contact the controllers indicated in the privacy notices above. As this information is considered public information (see first paragraph above), only legitimate requests to change or delete data can be fulfilled.

Other technical details

Cookies
A cookie consists of information sent by a web server to a web browser, and stored by the browser. The information is then sent back to the server each time the browser requests a page from the server. This enables the web server to identify and track the web browser.

We may use both "session" cookies and "persistent" cookies on the website. We use the session cookies to keep track of you whilst you navigate the website, for web analytics or to temporarily record the state of a service.

We use the persistent cookies to enable our website to recognise you when you next visit, for example, to retain your username for a login.

Session cookies will be deleted from your computer when you close your browser. Persistent cookies will remain stored on your computer until deleted, or until they reach a specified expiry date.

We do not permit the use of third party cookies.

Log files
We may collect, store and use the following kinds of personal information:
information about your computer and about your visits to and use of this website (including your IP address, geographical location, browser type and version, operating system, referral source, length of visit, page views, website navigation and details). None of this information is used to identify you personally.

Email policy
Our policy is to only send you emails that you have chosen to receive. Emails from ECOWEB will inform you of which service has sent the email and how to change your email preferences.
We may email you in special circumstances, for example, an important general announcement or a significant change to a ECOWEB service that you use.
Where feasible, email addresses on ECOWEB are not published "in the clear" to avoid email address harvesting for spam. A contact form (MailAnon) allows users to send an email without seeing the email address.
